However, it’s the third story where things really shine. Power Girl’s return is awesome, and this story takes her in a very different direction. Psionic Power Girl helping cure Beast Boy of his trauma wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card, and it makes this story the most fascinating of the bunch. Williams kills it with the plot, characterization, and dialogue. This story was the most anticipated and had the most chances to mess up; the fact that it soared like an eagle is such a testament to the creative team and is a fantastic start. As for the commercialism that is Dawn of DC, it's an obvious attempt to mislead us into thinking things are about to get better and keep buying their already more than they're worth books. That Rebirth will be nothing compared to this, and how we're goona love it. Yeah, right. They're still going to keep hiring Marvel writers and tell us what we should want instead of hearing what we actually want. It's mostly just an excuse to release a bunch of new #1s and take the other stuff in new directions they think are cool and they'll keep using Marvel's tactics, all the while claiming they don't wish to. In short, nothing will be different than it has been. Just new #1s and "bold new directions" all while, like with Marvel, their books' main reason to exist will be to promote their movies and streaming programs. Basically just another "brilliant" move by DC's editors. It's worthy of DiDio himself. The next day, the Superman Family attends the opening of Steelworks Tower, a new institute founded by John Henry and Natasha Irons to research and develop new technologies to solve the world's problems. Metallo breaks into the Tower and ascends to the top floor. While John Henry is making his commencement speech, Conner Kent notices Metallo but doesn't recognise him in his new body and flies up to investigate. Metallo overwhelms him with a blast of Kryptonite radiation and detonates a bomb which destabilises the whole tower. It starts to collapse and the Superman Family struggle to stop it falling on the people below. Metallo calls out to Superman to come and fight him, telling him that he has to kill him. Following the bombshell events of Action Comics #1050, the world’s relationship with Superman is forever changed, the upper limits of his supercharged powers have yet to be reached, and the House of El’s transformation of Metropolis, led by Steel, has begun. But Lex Luthor has found the perfect instrument with which to undo everything Superman is working to achieve: Metallo, whose hatred of Superman is matched only by his hatred for Luthor himself.

Nrama: In many ways, so many of the core, iconic DC heroes have become patriarchs - Batman-Bruce, Barry (and even Wally), Arthur, Hal (albeit in a more militarized way). And, of course, the Wonder Woman family has expanded even if Diana isn't quite the matriarch (yet). Nrama: All right. Last question. What's coming up in the immediate future of Action Comics you can tell readers (and potential readers) about? Following the bombshell events of Action Comics #1050, the world’s relationship with Superman is forever changed, the upper limits of his supercharged powers have yet to be reached, and the House of El’s transformation of Metropolis, led by Steel, has begun.

DC Universe Infinite gets Ultra tier offering new comics one month after release

While we can tell you the Superman of Earth-2, Val-Zod, and Jon's nemesis, Ultraman, will be key characters in the early part of Adventures of Superman, what we're going to reveal at the end of issue #2 will have everyone talking and issue #3 launches us in a direction that no one will see coming." For those who may not know, in the last days of the New 52, DC made some moves away from the rebooted continuity and toward what would become the Rebirth initiative and its associated continuity. One of the odder choices made at the time was to bring the Post-Crisis Superman into the rebooted New 52 world, positing that he and Lois had been timeline refugees living undercover on a farm. Ultimately, the New52 Superman was killed, and then the two were combined into the current Superman who is, more or less, Post-Crisis-compatible – I’m not even sure if there are any traces of the New52 continuity left in him at this point. Sandoval’s artwork is always enjoyable, this issue grits it up a little – it’s less smooth and shiny and more humanized in a way that remains lovely, and makes for a really interesting fit/balance with the Lee Weeks work in the next story.

‘Unstoppable Doom Patrol’ #1 scratch-off variant covers revealed

Cover image for 1122DC085 Action Comics #1051 David Nakayama Cover, by (W) Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Dan Jurgens, Leah Williams (A) Rafa Sandoval, Lee Weeks, Marguerite Sauvage (CA) David Nakayama, in stores Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from DC Comics PKJ: I mean it's a thing that anyone can relate to, I guess. I mean people are always telling me how hard it is to write Superman, and they say it almost like a statement of fact.

Then, in Lois and Clark 2: Doom Rising, Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks return to tell the tale of young Jon Kent on the farm with his parents, learning about his abilities, coming of age and battling the Doombreaker?! Then, in Lois and Clark 2: Doom Rising, Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks return to tell the tale of young Jon Kent on the farm with his parents, learning about his abilities, coming of age...and battling the Doombreaker?! Because of the events at the end of Warworld Apocalypse. Osul-Ra is essentially a New God now, with powers that are kind of unexplored. We don't really know what he's capable of, or what the consequences will be for this power that he now carries. Superman is going to be learning what Osul is capable of for some time, and in that regard, he's in a very similar position that his own Earth parents were in years ago. I thought that'd be really interesting to see.The artwork in this story also needs a special mention. While Sandoval and Weeks’ work kind of fit together – both coming out as the somewhat grounded side of superheroics, with one (Sandoval) leaning toward the super and the other (Weeks) toward the human element, Sauvage’s work is bright, slightly whimsical and extremely pretty. It almost reminds me of something I’d see in a fantasy comic. I'm also really excited to show the relationship between Jon and the twins in that Jon feels the weight of the lost years with his parents, and of course, his parents feel it even more. And so for Jon to see kids that were roughly his age when he left … like literally in his old bedroom … you know?
