Description

The school in the story was incredible and Lynette did a good job at creating such a place where it makes you want to go learn, i myself would love to live in Medora and attend Akarnae because the school seems so cool and the library is defiantly one place i'd spend most of my time for obvious reasons but i won't spoil anything so just read the book! Dreading her first day at a new school, Alex is stunned when she walks through a doorway and finds herself stranded in Medora, a fantasy world full of impossibilities. Desperate to return home, she learns that only a man named Professor Marselle can help her... but he's missing. So I figured I should finally read it. And...yeah, I didn't love this. Let's bullet point the reasons: In We Three Heroes, we first meet Kaiden during Crowns and Curses (D.C.'s story), when Kaiden and Declan find Delucia with Maxton, standing up to him. Like his sister Jeera had offered strength, Kaiden told her that one day a doorway would open for her, and she would have friends. Later on, D.C. sees Kaiden around the campus sometimes. A few weeks after the incident with Aven, Alex asks Kaideen a few questions about Medora's military and Wardens, and during the conversation sparks fly.

I met Lynette when I was in Australia and she is by far the sweetest person I've ever met! We were on panels together and signings at SupaNova con, which is Australia's comic con. Every time she talked about her book, I was intrigued. I finally had a chance to read it. There were a few logic issues, but that's my writing teacher part of my brain coming out :) I would have liked more concentration on the main plot/problem of the stranger and not as much on the school and it's day to day. The ending was rushed, but that's a common complaint of mine for many books. I did miss one character in this installment but it was compensated by tons of other characters’ development and hopefully things will balance out in the sequel. As Alex's second year at Arkanae begins things don't go as planned. Somehow she winds up taking part in the trial to enter the mysterious Hunter's Stealth and Subterfuge class, and what is even more crazy is that she passes doing what no other student has ever been able to - complete the trial. I rated this book five out of five, and have no need to change it. I recommend this series to all YA fantasy lovers. If you are not sure if you should read it, don’t judge your opinion on the blurb. This book met my expectations and above. If you enjoyed the Harry Potter series, then this series is definitely for you, as it carries similar concepts but with an older and female protagonist. The characters here are both likable and well drawn. The book blew some readers’ expectations out of the water, as they completely devoured this whole entire book and each of the words. Lynette creates a world that she takes you too, completely immersing you in this fictional world. The book hooks you and ends up leaving you wanting more. It is filled with humor and totally magical, not to mention tough to put down.

The characters in this book are so well-written and are a group of friends that i want in my own life because they all bring something different to the table. Alex for her determination, fight and loyalty because she never gives up on her family, friends and the challenges she's given. Jordan for his wit, loyalty and sense of humour. Bear for his smarts, loyalty and sense of humour. D.C for her compassion, loyalty, understanding. Friendship plays such a big role in this series because all four of the main characters are so close to each other and it definitely shows and i seriously need these four characters as my friends in real life.

Customer reviews

I did find some parts predictable but still very enjoyable. I really can't wait for the next book in this trilogy. I'm already having character and world withdrawals. I wish I had a bubble door that could send me to Medora! Have you been looking for the feeling you got from reading Harry Potter for the first time? the discovery of a new universe? the internal wish for an invitation to a school where you might finally fit in? look no further the Medoran chronicles is just that. it got me "reading" again, i was hooked by chapter two and invested by chapter fourteen. Hmm. A YA Fantasy novel set at a boarding school for 'gifted' kids. Where have I read this plot before??!

Reading this for a second time was such a fun experience. I was a little cynical the first time around because I'm wary of HP rip-offs, but there's so much sass in this series it's hard for me not to fall in love. I love the variety of the classes and the little details that flesh out the world as a place of magic. There's still a few predictable elements and typical scenarios but surprisingly this didn't bother me in the slightest as I truly enjoyed reading through these moments. As with the first novel, there's a few explanations that you can't really think too much about (such as Alex's extremely unconcerned parents) but if you let go of the details and relax into the story you'll find yourself enjoying the ride. I won’t judge the book on the story since I didn’t even finish it but the plot was nothing intriguing for me. There’s a doorway that led Alice into a new world which has been read and seen before (ahem, Narnia) but this supernatural occurrence fell absolutely flat when Alice came across as an illogical human being who didn’t even understand how weird this stepping into a new world is. I think she was living in a bubble, which could’ve been fine if her age was resonating with her thoughts; if she was much younger than a sixteen-year-old, I would’ve let that fact slide but unfortunately, she wasn’t.Kaiden's greatest strength is being "perceptive, intuitive and compassionate" and his greatest weakness is "can sometimes care too much".

Emerging dream-weaver Lynette Noni offers a fresh approach to the popular YA fantasy genre. With a recent YA focus on brutal dystopias, this narrative is full of youthful surprise yet offers difficult physical challenges, emotional consequences and magical foundations alongside a protagonist who has to work hard to realise her inner strengths. Adolescents embarking on their own overwhelming transitions – starting high school, completing studies or entering the work force – will easily relate to Alex and the tough decisions she has to make. The technology is modern and everything is explained by science, but at the same time they use torches and most of the school seems to be medieval. I disliked the names for the devices they used a lot. It just clashed with the whole vibe for me, and trying to forcefully call magical things scientific didn't leave a great taste. D.C is sooo irritating. Can she please be a casualty of war please? Or a flight of stairs? Or can someone just push her in front of a moving vehicle? Any of the above, I’m not fussy. She is daft, annoying, whiny and kills my brain cells where ever she opens her mouth. Just killll herrrr alreadyyyyy.

The bestselling “Medoran Chronicles” series is written by author Lynette Noni, and is a young adult fantasy series. The series began publication in the year 2015, when “Akarnae” (pronounced uh-car-neigh) was released. Alex meets Darrius, not knowing he is Headmaster Marselle, in the libraries inner section. He helps and guides her on the rest of her journeys throughout the series. chemistry, society and culture, Species distinction, Core skills (supernatural giftedness by the way), medical science, history, etc. With all the high tech, I wasn't sure where archery and equestrian skills came in, but the rest made sense. I would also think it's great for younger YAs looking to move onwards and upwards from Harry Potter. Not at that level certainly but quite a good start to this series. The infinite, sentient library has a lot of hidden features that only allows some to know it's mysteries. Alex and the guys go on several adventures within it's walls encountering various characters within its walls.
