The older LC90 used two caps the inner screwed down on the battery and the outer cap offered the button but compare with the older LC40 which had no USB port (remove battery to recharge) and the newer LC40 contains one cap which is combined charger+button. I’ve even used one many times under water for several minutes at each use with no water getting inside. I don’t know why the company allowed this to happen, but in my mind, it casts doubt on all of the products it makes. It is well constructed, easy to use, and the service from Anker is absolutely 100% helpful (I needed a replacement battery). In my test, I drop the flashlight six times onto a concrete sidewalk from the height specified by the manufacturer’s rating.

I keep several in the bedroom, one or two in the living room by the doors, and one in the office for working on computers and other projects. In addition to that I keep one or two large ones in the cars (can be use for more than lighting things up) and a few in the barn.

Thanks for the review and comparison, while I do not have either if these lights I can say that from the looks of it the smaller power button is a pain. However, I would still suggest looking at another light that offers better runtime and improved water resistance. To me, the icons look very similar to the ANSI/PLATO icons and the table is labeled as “FL1 Standard.

Guys When I use it contiunously for example 10-15 min, it getting hotter, As manuals says It can work 6 hours on medium level, So will it catch fire melt or something if it will be used for 6 hours? A drop to less than 50% of the initial output in less than 2 minutes is not acceptable performance for me. The tailcap must be fully removed to access the port, so I had hoped Anker managed to make this waterproof. That doesn’t mean its a bad product, it could just mean I lack imagination, or the need, For me I have only 2 problems to solve (for the LC90 typical problem) which walking dog at night and surviving a power outage.I don’t regret the LC90 purchase but let’s put it this way, I had the LC40 and LC90 on the way out to take for anyone. Let me be perfectly clear: I do not recommend the LC90 for any kind of tactical, self-defense, law enforcement or military use.
