His books have won the Times Educational Supplement, Primary School Book Award for Science in 1996, the Helen Roney Sattler Award from the Dinosaur Society in 1993, and the Educational Press Association of America Distinguished Achievement Award in 1993. It also provides information on dinosaurs and the acknowledgement that the Gigantosaurus was created just for the book. When the Gigantosaurus finally comes, the little dinosaurs don't believe Bonehead and they don't run yet somehow it's Bonehead who gets eaten. The story was simple, with repetitions, but the expectations were nice and I liked that the book ended with a touch of humor.

In a vertical gatefold surprise, it looks like Bonehead has got crunched - but in a hilarious reveal we discover this annoying little dinosaur is safe after all. I appreciate the rhythm of the text but there are some boo-boos (but nothing that will really distract kids or puzzle a reader).Although their dinosaur elders warn four youngsters about the fierce Gingantosaurus, they still enjoy playing. If you read my review all the way to the end, you can check out an alternate ending to this book that I just thought of: Instead of Bonehead getting "eaten", his friends get taken by the Gigantosaurus because they didn't believe him to run away. Despite their large size, they can be quite stealthy and are skilled at developing poisons and weapons. Little Ankylosaurus keeps tricking the others by screaming and telling them to run and hide from Gigantosaurus.

As a rule, the problem with rhythmic stories for children – which you notice when you’re reading them out loud over and over again – is that you often find that you want to add or remove words to retain a more poetic flow than the original. The story was like a dinosaur spin off of the boy who cried wolf, but everything worked out in the end. Accompanied by a full glossary and index, this makes Graphic Dinosaurs: Giganotosaurus both fun and informative to use.Yet, I found Bonehead to be the cutest of the dinosaurs, easily exciteable and obviously a little fearful. However, we got a bit confused about the description of the Brachiosaurus: "A truly huge herbivore, Tiny's mum will grow to be even bigger than Diplodocus! The artwork is wonderful and fun to look at and the dialogue itself is also fun as it is all in rhyme. Jonny Duddle (Author, Illustrator) Jonny Duddle overheard the story of his first book The Pirate Cruncher while sailing on a square-rigger.

The rhyming story rollicks along and with their filmic quality, the digitally created illustrations seem to leap off the page. Gigantosaurus is a Mesozoic spin on a Peter and the Wolf like tale full of great rhythm, rhyme, and patterning. All young dinosaurs are warned about the scary Gigantosaurus so Bonehead volunteers to be the dino-kids lookout. Three cute dinosaurs and one ugly dinosaur subtly named Bonehead are warned by their parents to avoid the Gigantosaurus.Giganotosaurus was a member of the carcharodontosaurids, with family members like Carcharodontosaurus ("great white shark lizard" and Mapusaurus ("Earth lizard"), all enormous predatory dinosaurs descended from the allosaurs. rex relied on strength and a powerful bite in a strike that crushed the bones of the hadrosaurs and ceratopsians it preyed on. Readers will learn about the exciting adventures of a young Gigantosaurus as he grows from a youth into an adult.

Tiny is a triceratops and has a Triceratops mummy, so I'm not sure why thr Brachio description would state that Tiny's mum would grow bigger than a diplodocus, when a triceratops will not be bigger than a diplodocus and it also is irrelevant to the Brachio description. From the 'Meat-eating Bull' to the 'Patagonian Claw', discover how we know about dinosaurs and what might have happened to them!

All we’ve heard about for at least the last decade is The Gruffalo (I know it was first published in 1999, but as with most things it took numerous years to become a household word). Maps, size comparisons, and other special features help bring the exciting world of dinosaurs to life! rexes in the Astrosaurs books, in real life it’s believed that Tyrannosaurus rex had the edge in intelligence - though Giganotosaurus’s use of pack hunting behavior suggests that it wasn’t stupid either.
