To sterilise bottles and teats we recommend using steam, cold water sterilisation or a NUK Steam or Microwave Steriliser. To give even the smallest babies a good start, the NUK First Choice Bottle System with the NUK First Choice Teat is available for use in clinics too. Always dismantle the bottle for boiling or steam-sterilising (temperature above 80°C) into its component parts and leave it open, otherwise deformation may result.

Together with the different sizes of hole for food of different consistencies, it provides the basis for bottle feeding that helps prevent babies’ tummy pains in a natural way. The NUK Anti-Colic Air System helps to equalise air pressure inside the bottle, reducing the risk of baby swallowing air and thus infant colic. Altogether this means that the NUK First Choice Teat is particularly well accepted by babies and a combination of bottle and breastfeeding is possible without nipple confusion. The bottle teat is often used for the older child that is ready to swallow/drink larger amounts of liquid at a time.

Always check the teat for signs of excessive wear by pulling the teat in all directions before each use especially when the child has teeth.

Its shape and function have been adapted to the NUK Teat and it does not look like a prosthetic device. The special shape of the teat adapts particularly well to a child’s mouth: the domed shape of the top fits snugly against the roof of the mouth, while the curved underside leaves enough room for the tongue to move naturally during sucking.The new, improved NUK First Choice + teats help to replicate a mother’s nipple whilst breastfeeding. The Anti-Colic Air System enables a natural flow, so that babies can drink as if from the breast without swallowing air while the soft materials (TPE or Latex) resemble the softness of the breast.

Each pre-sterilised bottle is individually wrapped, giving you the peace of mind that the bottle has not been interfered with prior to use. The orthodontic NUK shape, combined with the NUK First Choice+ extra wide lip support, makes it easier to alternate between breast and bottle feeding. Do not leave in direct sunlight or near a source of heat, or leave the teat in disinfectant ('sterilising solution') for longer than recommended, as this may weaken the teat.The NUK Teat also features the NUK Anti-colic Air System, which allows air to flow into the bottle through the improved vent, stopping baby swallowing air and helping to prevent colic. Teats and bottles do not belong in the dishwasher - dishwasher detergents can cause material damage!
