About this deal

Limmy is currently on a national book tour, where he’ll read excerpts from the book and answer audience questions. Taking observational comedy to its core of simply looking, Limond’s sketches are known for deftly walking the knife’s edge between tragedy and laughter, often incorporating themes of trauma, suicide and violence. Then there was their occasional habit of stealing tractor tyres, the kind big enough to fit small boys in and roll them down hills. He regularly tweets about how much he misses drinking (which I've never seen an alcoholic do), and satirises the now-daily flamewars of the shouting classes by taking absurd and alternating stances on every issue (. They come out with it straight: they are clueless, everyone else is clueless, we’re all winging it, and we’re not always very good at winging it.

In June 2009, the BBC commissioned a six-episode series of Limmy's Show, a sketch show which premiered on BBC Scotland in January 2010. It is important that we continue to promote these adverts as our local businesses need as much support as possible during these challenging times. Because, as well as being a compelling first-person account of living with mental health issues, Surprisingly Down to Earth is, as the title promises, very funny. Post moderation is undertaken full-time 9am-6pm on weekdays, and on a part-time basis outwith those hours. Come along to my first live thing since 2008 and my very first book reading for my very first book, Daft Wee Stories! He doesn’t advocate doing it, but he talks about it in a fairly neutral way, like there’s no real danger to it. Reading this feels far less like a TV comedian recounting their successes and failures, instead resembling a close friend spilling their secrets and fears in the early hours, interspersed with crude banter and surprise punchlines. Limond describes the teenage years he spent drinking and getting into trouble, on one occasion stealing a car, with disarming honesty in his autobiography, Surprisingly Down to Earth and Very Funny. Auto theft, fanny fright, incompetent but dogged self-harm, raving and tripping as self-medication, dole stupor, bail skipping, the death drive, pretend machismo, pretend homosexuality, alcoholism, Flash animation, BBC showrunner.

There was no talk of a counsellor to know whether I was in the right frame of mind to take these things. I'm an atheist myself, but arguing with the religious is infuriating, draining and it actually hurts my head. Fairly early into the book it became apparent that this is indeed a real autobiography, at times brutally honest, and frequently more than 'quite funny'. I've been a fan of Limmy's work for some time now, and wondered if this autobiography was going to be a zmuda style bunch of tales that may or may not be quite true.If ye ever wanted a blow by blow account of the impact of imperialist British ideology on urban Scottish expression, then look nae further than this frank account by Limmy. When Limmy’s Show faded from our screens after three series, Internet veteran Brian Limond simply migrated online, the ideal medium for his distinctive approach to comedy. It’s also refreshing to hear the story of a genuine self-made man, a rare TV talent who didn’t attend the Royal Conservatoire or private school. No-one could mistake this for a self-help volume, unless you can imagine one written by an Irvine Welsh character, with a constant sense of unease, the threat of violence and endless weapons-grade swearing on the streets of Glasgow.
