In Amazing Disgrace: The Voicenotes, Grace Campbell, the self-proclaimed queen of disgrace, will interview her guests on all the most disgraceful things they’ve ever done, and then they will give advice to members of the public on their own personal shame dilemmas. The fun is in Hamilton-Paterson's offhand observations and delicate touch in handling his two unreliable misfits as they find each other--and there's lots of it. Amelia Dimoldenberg For as long as she can remember, Grace Campbell has been told that she doesn't suit her name. I’ve loved Grace Campbell since I discovered her on the podcast she does with her Dad and was lucky enough to catch her doing her Edinburgh show in London not long before covid hit.

The Seattle Times: "The vainglorious Gerald is a wonderfully cranky narrator and the book's satirical-outrage factor sometimes reaches Borat-like heights. Booklist (starred review): "Amazing Disgrace is written as if Samper is chatting with the reader over a bottle of prosecco, and it offers endless (often laugh-out-loud) musings from the scatological to the sartorial.I'm often cagey about reading Instagrammer's work especially after wasting my money on Florence Given's pile of crap. I am a self-professed alcoholic bookworm who has spent a substantial period of her life falling into very similar traps as Grace Campbell.

How sexist the world is, in particular her experiences in the world of tv/comedy and how men don’t take her seriously at all. She also gives multiple trigger warnings before discussing potentially triggering subjects, which I always respect in books of this calibre. On the other hand, there are also toe-curling scenes from the consultation room of a sexual health centre; and an episode from a women’s health summit in which she delivered an ode to her vagina to a room full of models. But most of all, I loved the brutal honesty with which she took mental health conversations head on, and how she (not without humor) normalized emotions we often blame ourselves for feeling, especially as women.Katherine Ryan 'Grace has written such a funny and interesting book, partly because she has a unique perspective of the world, but mostly because of her own brilliant mind.
