To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This series is the one that convinced my son that reading could be fun […] These books are my 'go to' for recommendations for friends' children. When Heimdall and Hyrrokkin abandon their “children” to go on holiday, Odin sends Baldur – Thor’s half brother and god of making Loki look bad – to babysit.

Loki might not have shown any moral improvement (yet) but Odin has given him another chance to prove himself worthy of A. After the drama teacher casts him as the villain in the school play, Loki starts to wonder whether there’s any point in being good when everyone seems convinced of his villainy. I often worry he's going to 'age out' he already is disappointed that I have gone from knowing 'everything about star wars and hanging with Max Rebo' to not having seen the latest Mandalorian. Loki is the series protagonist - the most chaotic god of Norse mythology, who has been banished to live on earth as a normal child who also has to go to school.

There is a fair amount of toilet humour, this time in the form of hamster poo and that is sure to win a lot of children's hearts. I have come to the conclusion that as a mere mortal, there are things about deities that I would never understand.

The Loki series is a real favourite of mine and one I am constantly recommended to children and families as they are accessible to even the most reluctant of readers. In each book, Loki must face the challenges of any ordinary 11-year-old, and the results are knee-slappingly, tear-inducingly hilarious! Life's tough for trickster god Loki, banished to earth in the body of an eleven-year-old boy with thunder god Thor for company. Loki is, as ever, just trying to be good, but when a cursed item reaches his possession, can he resist wanting to be king of the world?
