She’s just broken up with her fiance, moved back in with her parents, and hasn’t got a proper career to speak of. Nell’s journey to mid-life happiness is hilarious, moving and filled with clear-eyed wisdom about what it means to be a woman of any age, proving that the best happy ever afters come when you fall in love with life. All her single friends are happily married with children, sky-high rents force her to rent a room in a stranger's house, and in a world of perfect Instagram lives, she feels like a f**k up. Facing a downward spiral all too quickly, Nell Stevens must deal with the demise of business, her impending marriage and the loss of her life in sunny California.

By injecting her natural quirky humour into in an honest stream of consciousness, the podcast acts as a kind of emotional release for her. Say hello to a book that will have you laughing with every page, whether you're twenty, forty or eighty - Heat You may also be interested in. What drew me in was that I knew I could understand how it would feel to be a childless woman in a world where it seems like everyone I know is becoming a mother or has plans to become a mother in the next little while. All her single friends are now married with children, sky-high rents force her to rent a room in a stranger’s house and in a world of perfect Instagram lives, she feels like a f**k up.Nell is a forty something single woman without a job and accommodation unlike her friends who are all married and have kids and have their own houses. I wanted to hang out with her and be whatever she needed - drinking buddy, sounding board, friend date. Secondly, always remember that the family will always end up with you when you had nobody to look for. Confessions of a Forty-Something F*ck Up is perfect comfort reading for anyone who thinks life isn't working out as they want it too, whether they're forty, fourteen or eighty-four.

This book looks at that very situation with a good deal of humor and some insight into finding happiness. These titles have sold in twenty-two territories and achieved worldwide sales of more than one million copies (making the bestseller charts in the UK, US, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Serbia).

But when an old work contact lands her a job writing obituaries, Nell meets the fabulous Cricket, an eighty-something widow, who is also adjusting to her new life and they strike up an unlikely friendship. Nell is at rock bottom, she has split up with her fiancé after their business went bust and has moved into a shared house with Edward, who has a long list of rules .But this book definitely reminded me of the things that I had laid out and thought back to where I used to think I'd end up ten years later and then ended up laughing because now I can't even imagine going by that plan. Several hilarious twists, turns and misunderstandings ensue, but are her and Edward meant for each other? Having spent a large amount of her time alone in her flat, she's looking forward to being able to get out and about again with her boyfriend, Edward, and her friends.

I'm seeing more stories focus on a friendship between those in their seventies or eighties and someone two or three decades younger and I'm loving it.PLEASE NOTE: The publication date for Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k- Up has been pushed back to 31st December 2020. When Jude, as an adult, is adopted by his favorite Harvard law professor, his friends join him for Thanksgiving in Cambridge every year.
