So many questions and so few answers this was misdirection at its finest and I felt like a real-life Nancy Drew. In the final installment, we see different sides to Penny and James which adds a lot of growth to their relationship. Penny became stronger for James’ vulnerability to his addiction. Their relationship survives a lot of ups and downs but by the end they are stronger than ever. Matthew Caldwell never forgot about me. I know that now. And a part of me wants to give us a second chance. When I’m in his arms, I feel 16 again. He takes away my pain. But I’m worried he’ll never forgive me… Again, because of the content of the story, you didn't get as much spice as I would have hoped. There was some roughness and the rooftop scene was very hot but I'm hoping the fifth book will sweep me off my feet. 🔥 Look, Penny, I'm sorry about the other day. It's none of my business whether you report Professor Hunter..."But then the mystery, the damn mystery started creeping in, and it's a doozy. A serious doozy. I'm used to, and love, Ivy Smoak's romantic suspense (ie: Made of Steel) but this is on a whole new level. I'd say it's not even really a romance, it's pretty much a straight up thriller with some romance thrown in. And damn, that crazy, crazy ending!! Sigh...now I'm anxiously awaiting the second book, because that ending killed me. I must know more, NOW!!

Nothing here is what it seems as we get to discover the unfolding drama in real time from Addy's POV and I was absolutely transfixed throughout.

Sort Of A Prequel To The Hunted Series

Bravo Ms. Smoak! I have read many a series, and this, by far, has been one of the best. I know I still have 3 more books in this particular series, but you have made me a fan for life of your work!! The Truth In My Lies" is really quite a strange one: and as I wasn't really sure what I was reading here I just went with the general flow and boy did I have questions upon questions. Here again, we have the same drama and bullshit that is just carried over from the last installment, Eruption. This time the conflict isn't necessarily between Penny and James, which is a nice change of pace. They're involved, naturally, but it's not really between them the way it usually is. James' ex wife is still up to her jealous ways and trying to ruin everything.
