About this deal

Performance wise, the changes build on the key features of the first generation. The‘EnergySling’ (the rubber material that stretches across the top of the boot) has undergone the most significant change. The original material has been replaced with a stiffer rubber to increase the stability across themid-footand offer better protection. The band has also been extended in width by approximately one inch while the angle is now perpendicular to the shape of the boot. The extra space attributed to this feature has given adidas the ability toincorporate an extra lace eyelet on the offside of each boot, allowing for a tighter fitthat the previous model. For adidas, the Nitrocharge represents a dynamic shift in the heart and soul of the brand's other three silos (F50, Predator, and 11Pro) and the players that those silos respectively define. For years, the F50 has represented the Speed Demon, the Predator was all about power, and the 11Pro catered to finesse. Despite those relatively well-defined lines, the Predator has moved into the "control" category with the last two versions adding the adidas-dubbed "Lethal Zones" to take the game beyond just driving the ball. With that, the Predator line seemingly moved out of competition with the Nike T90 series and into position to take on the CTR360. As such, the power category was left vacant for adidas. After having a chance to wear the NitroCharge 1.0 for a few weeks, we’re certainly impressed with what seems to be one of adidas’ best all-around boot launches in quite some time. Category:Even if Adidas categorizes them as the “Engine”, I see them as a boot styled toward Control. Featuring a redesigned and larger rubber Energysling, the Nitrocharge 1.0 FG delivers optimal stability and elasticity while the Energypulse outsole element enables higher energy output.

And, of course, there’s the EnergyPulse– the ECG-inspired reenforcement to the soleplate is more immediately rigid than any other adidas boot with a SprintFrame. As for the break in, they got me through 90 minutes the day they came in with no complaints, so they’re definitely a boot which can go from the box to the pitch without any major concerns. adidas currently have three boot ranges the ‘control’ range Predator, the ‘speed’ range F50 adiZero and the ‘heritage’ range adiPure 11Pro and the new ‘power’ nitrocharge boot will make it the German brand’s fourth when it will be released in June this year. The nitrocharge boot features a new ENERGYPULSE which is a high elastic forefoot element offering premium energy output when shooting and the ENERGYSLING is an elastic rubber sling which offers superb stability and elasticity. Nitrocharge 1.0 In terms of shooting, it really is in the right spot across the strikezone and it is in a position where you can strike the ball with it. Does it add more power? That is definitely not definitive and it would be extremely difficult to prove. But because it is a rubber material, there has to be some natural rebound effect. Realistically, I’d say there is a lot more of a placebo effect to this one – so I will leave it to individual players who wear the boots to determine! Striking Shots, Playing Passes

ADIDAS NITROCHARGE 2.0 – THE SUMMARY

The miCoach compatibility is a nice value add if you already have a Speed Cell, but not enough to make a difference to the score. Created by adidas for the engine, the player that fuels the team with relentless intensity from start to finish, these Nitrocharge 1.0 FG football boots boost every move on firm ground with extra energy.

adidas have the option of playing it safe in this department with every new boot they release thanks to the love for the SprintFrame chassis – but on the NitroCharge, they’ve opted to switch things up a bit with two key innovations. The nitrocharge 1.0 is the premium grade boot of the range which features new innovative technology which ‘nitrocharges’ your shot through the ‘ENERGYPULSE’ and ‘ENERGYSLING’. Located on the underfoot the ENERGYPULSE is essentially an upgrade to the ‘POWERPULSE’ seen on the 2004 Predator Pulse boot and it offers premium energy output through the high elastic forefoot element. The ENERGYSLING located on top of the upper wraps around your foot offering enhanced stability and elasticity. The newly developed super soft hybridtouch upper harnesses the benefits of leather and synthetic in one material, the TRAXION 2.0 stud configuration enhances acceleration and agility and the SPRINTFRAME seen on all other adidas boot ranges is installed into the nitrocharge 1.0. THE ECONOMY ENGINE?

Apparently, it’s not enough for ‘The Engine’ to be the hardest-working player on the pitch – he also has to be the hardest-working when cleaning his boots, too! Then there is the addition of Mesh through the midfoot and around the heel. I love this addition as it allows the boot to envelop around your foot. When you bend a leather or synthetic boot, there is always another point where the material produces a fold. With a mesh it is completely different as the fibers are much more flexible and independent of each other. We also seen this in play on the Adidas adi5 X, although the downside to those was the fact that it ran through the strikezone and proved problematic under impact. On the Nitrocharge it is very complimentary to the make-up of the boot and proves comfortable right from first wear. Finally, for clean striking of the ball, the front of the boot is made with adidas’ HybridTouch material. It’s a rare and welcome occasion when a brand launch an all-new silo, so it’s with great pleasure we can finally reveal the adidas NitroCharge 1.0!

Even with a pretty consistent base, Adidas has modified several key elements of these boots to really differentiate them from other releases, and in turn that has affected how they break in. For example, the soleplate is the same one used on all other modern Adidas releases – except this one features EnergyPulse technology built into the sole. Its purpose is to provide rebound (you can read more about that in the section below) but it starts out extremely stiff. Bending the boots actually proves extremely difficult to do and that transcends into play. It took a few wears before they loosened up to a more natural state, but even at that they still help a stiff feel that Adidas has intended.Despite being initially unsure of where they fit in adidas’ grand scheme, judged on it’s own merits the NitroCharge 1.0 is one of our favourite-performing boots to release this year.

As with the Predator LZ, adidas have also utilised the creative freedom that comes with working on a synthetic, creating a modular pattern that is a running theme through the NitroCharge 1.0. Ex display: These boots are new in box but the left boot has been briefly displayed so has some minor fading/discolouration and they may have been briefly tried on. The fading is only noticeable close up and the boots are otherwise 'as new' with tags attached and in their original box. Please see all images after the the first image for photos of the exact boots on sale, including side by side comparisons. The EnergySling (more on that later) wraps around the forefoot and under the soleplate in a very dense rubber, and whilst this will stretch a little when you put your foot in, as your feet swell as you play, this part of the boot will constantly be fighting to return to shape during a game, making for some nasty cramping. Make sure you size them right. The Nitrocharge boot is noticeably heavier than adidas' F50 adiZero (which comes in at 165 grams) but it is by no means heavy. The SPRINTFRAME outsole with its clever engineering, use of molded nylon, and hollow studs helps keep the weight figure down while the mesh half of the upper helps serve that purpose as well. The outsole is also noticeably stiffer than the F50 and the adiPower Predator before it.Which is why they’ve done everything possible to make sure they’re built to last. The toes are re-enforced to prevent soleplate separation and double-stitched along the seems, whilst the mesh is really glued onto the soleplate. So much so, it’s a little untidy on places like the heel counter, but if it means they last longer – we don’t mind one bit. In the forefoot, you’ll find adidas’ HybridTouch – adidas premier synthetic leather. HybridTouch has become a favourite since debuting on the Predator LZ, demonstrating leather-like grain and softness but with great shape retention, malleability and water-resistance. Would I Buy? If I were on a budget absolutely! However, my introduction to the series has further piqued my curiosity about the Nitrocharge 1.0.
