About this deal

All oat products start out as oat groats which are whole, toasted oat grains. They have had the hull removed but the nutritious parts– the bran, endosperm and germ– are still intact. With the bran intact, they take a long time to cook but they retain their shape and add texture to dishes making them a fantastic ingredient for stews or risottos. Limeflowers are particularly effective in helping to treat bad dreams and soothing a frazzled nervous system. Test recipes in smaller batches. Make slight adjustments to the recipes at first, and then scale up based on successful results. Can you eat oat flour raw?

A epidemiologic study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine looked at the relationship between dietary fiber intake and the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in 9,776 adults . The researchers found that subjects consuming the most fiber, 20.7 grams per day, had 12 percent less CHD and 11 percent less CVD compared to those eating the least amount (five grams per day) of fiber. Substitute by WEIGHT not volume: Oat flour tends to be lighter when measured by volume (measuring cups) so you would be missing some dry ingredients that could potentially alter your baked goods and leave them overly moist. Add 2 cups of rolled oats into a high speed blender (I use a Vitamix) and blend on high for 30-45 seconds. Scrape down the sides and mix it around with a spatula. Then blend again for 15-20 seconds, until as fine and powdery. Before we talk whether it’s worth to make it at home, let’s talk about how much of it do you get. Before you begin, I would like to mention that regular blender will not work to make oat flour. In that case, I recommend to use a food processor. Make your own oat flour from rolled oats by grinding 1¼ regular oats to yield about 1 cup of oat flour. So, are you a fan of oat flour recipes now? I hope you enjoyed today’s collection, and I simply cannot wait to see what recipes you try first. Leave a comment or share a photo, they always make my day! 🙂

They are high in a fibre called beta-glucan which helps lower cholesterol, supports your immune system and contributes to fight hunger pangs. To sift oat flour, simply place it in a medium fine mesh sieve and sift above large bowl. Sift until no more flour is falling through the mesh, and you see fine powder is in the bowl and only larger pieces of whole oats are left in a strainer. Oats are a good source of protein. They contain morethan most other grains– a 40g serving of rolled oats contains 4.8g protein. This typically equates to around 10% of the daily protein needs for most women and 8% for most men, and can be bumped up further by using skimmed or soya milk and topping with chopped nuts.Gluten free baking would not quite be the same without oat flour being involved. So what is oat flour and how is it used? Let’s cover these basic and more in the following post. However, certified ‘gluten-free’ oats are harvested from dedicated wheat-free fields and are stored and milled in wheat-free mills, and contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten. This means they are safe for most people with coeliac disease. What makes oats so good for you? Oat groats undergo methods like cutting, steaming, milling and grinding to achieve various forms. Both oatmeal and oat flour originate from the same whole grain, however, they are a result of different processing techniques. There are many alternative flours out there so why might you choose to use oat flour in your gluten-free cakes and bakes? When paired with other flours, oat flour can help soften and lighten up the texture, give more of a 'chew' and help keep baked goods moist since it has the ability to absorb a lot of liquid.
