About this deal

Gin and Tonics are often said to be the most refreshing drink to have, though often drank throughout the year we do enjoy them a little more when in the sun or in warmer climates. This take on a classic is the Melon Gin and Tonic, is relatively fast and easy to do, you just need to make sure you have a Honeydew melon at the ready. Navy strength gins usually have a similar flavour profile to London dry gin. However, the flavours are much more pronounced by the higher alcohol level. Therefore, navy strength gins are great at working with highly-flavoured mixers like cola, pink lemonade, Irn-Bru, concentrated fruit juices, coffee and Earl Grey tea. Mixers for Old Tom gin: of Simple Sugar Syrup (2 parts water to 1 part sugar, combine in a saucepan on a low heat until sugar dissolves fully) Apple gin can commonly refer to a type of apple-flavoured gin. Distillers create this apple taste by infusing gin with the fruit. This infusion can also include other, additional complimentary flavours; for example, Elemental Cornish Apple Gin is infused with apples as well as a hint of elderflower, helping to balance the tart of the apple with the sweetness from the elderflower.

While traditional gin is a timeless classic, the rise in colourful flavoured gins bursting with fun and alternative tastes is a refreshing trend, perfect for the upcoming summer. Here, ILoveGin takes a look at cherry gin, exploring the different types currently available, the perfect mixers and where you can find it. Make the vanilla bean syrup by adding all the ingredients in the above right list into a saucepan and bring to a boil, turn down the heat and let the figs breakdown for approx 5 mins, then let it cool and use a fine mesh to strain the liquid. (It makes approx 150ml of syrup, this can be stored in a fridge for up to a week)There simplest classic form of this drink is equal parts gin to lime cordial or juice, however there have been variations with this and depending on your own taste you may want to experiment with the ratios as well as using juice over cordial, a popular ratio is to make a drink with 50ml of your favourite gin mixed with 10ml of lime cordial. Another one of our favourite apple gins at the moment, Elemental Cornish Apple Gin is infused with apples as well as elderflower. The gin pairs nicely with an elderflower tonic, or with apple juice – creating the perfect Gin Appletini. Super easy to make and delicious, there are several variations including the addition of berries crushed at the bottom of a glass but the easiest form of this is the recipe below. It’s a lovely drink that’s great at Christmas but can also be enjoyed all year round.

Crush the peppercorns in a mixing bowl/large glass, then add strawberries and muddle them (crush/mash), then add all the other ingredients (excluding the Prosecco) and give it another good mix/muddle. The serve recommends adding the 50ml of cherry gin to the glass, already filled with the ice, topping this up with the tonic before adding the cherry syrup and stirring this all in thoroughly. After this, garnish with the 2 cherries.
