About this deal

Whilst this difference in transmittance between equal quality 10x42 vs 8x42 binoculars is minimal it only really becomes a factor under more extreme low light situations. To your surprise, the Nikon Prostaff 3S is three times cheaper than the Vortex. The features are just a bit fewer.

The Prostaff 3s binoculars have a longer eye relief, meaning they’re more suitable for eyeglass wearers. They also have a larger field of view at 126 m per 1000 m. In contrast, Prostaff 7s have a FOV of 119 m per 1000 m. Construction: Nikon Trailblazer is known among the most compact of Nikon binoculars, and you could see from the table the size is best in ergonomic features. However, Nikon Prostaff 3 has the lightest weight. During our tests on Nikon Prostaff 3S, we found it hard to adjust the lens and rotate the wheel to get a sharper vision. Even worse, the eyecups might retract prematurely upon twisting and against your eyes whilst. Eye cupsAs both 10x42 and 8x42 binoculars have 42mm objective lenses and assuming they use the same quality glass and coatings, the light-gathering ability between the two will be the same. For a value-added price the Celestron UpClose G2 10x50 binoculars deliver. Intended more as an everyday pair of bins than for use by twitchers specifically, these certainly nevertheless possess sufficient power and poke for the price, if you don't mind the traditional wider binocular build and operation. With surprisingly clear results delivered by this specialist brand as well as a value for money price point, the construction uses basic Bk7 glass prisms and the barrels and bridge are made from aluminium. You do get a rubber coated exterior to aid grip, yet the eyecups aren't adjustable and feel a tad flimsy to the touch.

Prostaff 3s is suitable for casual outdoor adventures such as boating ,hiking. Also, If you are on a lower budget they can be good companions to go for. Nikon introduced the Prostaff 7s series binoculars in 2014 with improvements in the 7 series already introduced in 2011. Overall, Image quality is crisp and well defined in the Prostaff 7s series than the Prostaff 3s series. Compact and lightweight 42mm-objective lens diameter model for superior portability (565g for 8x42, 575g for 10x42) Almost all features are good. However, we would not very appreciate its standard diopter adjustment, to be specific, the center focus.Whilst not always the case and it varies between brands, 10x42 binoculars can be a little more expensive than the equivalent 8x42 model from the same brand in the same series. At long distances, this is usually not as much of a factor, but at closer ranges, it can often mean that you don’t see the whole picture and thus can miss some important details. Thus under these conditions, it is often impossible to notice a difference in brightness between the views of equal quality 8x42 and 10x42 binoculars. The hinges are smooth yet resistant enough to stay in place even when getting it out of the carry pouch that ships with it which is reassuring. However, we have noticed that the eyepiece lens caps are constructed of a rather rigid, unforgiving plastic that seems a little loose when fitted and easily pulls off accidentally. The field of view is wider in the Nikon Prostaff 3s series than the 7s series which means, it is easier to follow moving objects with 3s series than the 7s series binoculars Eye Relief

On the other hand, if we’re beginning hunters, we would be more into Nikon Monarch 3 or Nikon Aculon. The fine details are quite impressive. Here the larger exit pupil created by the 8x42 configuration is a definite advantage and means they will often look to have a brighter image than the 10x42 equivalent. Therefore even though they both collect the same amount of light and the 10x power potentially gives you more image detail, you cannot actually see it. Below I go over in-depth, the differences in the physical characteristics as well as the all-important optical performance differences that you will get between similar quality 8x42 and 10x42 binoculars.

In good to average light conditions, most people’s pupils will constrict to a size smaller or at least equal to 4mm and thus both an 8x42 and a 10x42 binocular will be supplying your eyes with more than enough light for you to work with and thus perceive a bright image. Due to this, the images you’ll see with Prostaff 7s will be much brighter than those of the 3s. This feature also boosts its nighttime prformance. Prostaff 7 series consists of 8×30, 10×30, 8×42, 10×42 models, so the basic purpose was that in addition to standard-sized 42mm-dia models, 30mm-dia models that are easy to carry for everyone are available, providing high optical performance in a compact body. So far, Japanese products are famous for their high-quality and built-to-last construction. This pair of Nikon Prostaff 3S binoculars are no exception. s will also look to have a brighter image in low light and thus will make a better choice if you often operate in woodlands, forests or when the sun is at or just below the horizon.

An important point to note though is that Prostaff 7s is pricier than Prostaff 3s. So if you’re looking for simple, no-frills binoculars, the 3s will suffice. The Prostaff 3s series is a bit lighter and compact than the 7s counterparts which make the Prostaff 3s easy to carry. Built with multi-coated lenses and arsenic-free glass, the prism allows the light to transfer almost completely through the glass. As a result, you can expect a visible light spectrum and brighter images. Image quality As the Nikon Prostaff 3S binoculars are well-built and compact, along with only-necessary features, we strongly recommend you to give it a try. Without advanced bells and whistles, the binoculars are also easy to use, even when you are beginners or general users. Optics quality: With phase correction, Nikon Monarch 3 takes the lead, which means the brightness and resolution are better. The other 3 don’t differentiate much, however, Nikon Prostaff 3s 10×42 is slightly better. On the other hand, we want to bring some notes if you want to consider Nikon Aculon 10×42. Its prism is porro prism, therefore, the image would have a slight vintage effect, though optics quality is still very decent.
