Any medicine that contains preservatives (eye drops are a common example) may not be safe once it has passed its expiry date. That's because the preservatives are added to avoid harmful bacteria growing in the liquid - which, for obvious reasons, is not a risk you want to take when you're putting something into your eye. For adults and children over 10 years – the recommended dose is 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day (corresponding to 105 mg of dry extract of Hederae folium – ivy leaf). If necessary, the adult dose can be increased to 7.5 ml of syrup 3 times a day (corresponding to 157.5 mg of dry extract of Hederae folium – ivy leaf).

Prospan syrup is a herbal medicine that contains dried extract of ivy leaves (Hederae folium) as an active substance.

1. Ibuprofen anti-inflammatory medication

If dyspnoea, fever or purulent sputum occurs, a doctor or a qualified healthcare practitioner should be consulted.
